Beetleball Cosmetics & Shop
Eggs, Bucks, hats, skins, and why cosmetics do not make gold — only movement does.
Beetleball’s cosmetic loop is separate from its competitive loop. You earn Beetle Bucks by playing, spend them on Beetle Eggs, and crack the eggs for cosmetics that personalise your beetle without changing stats or abilities. Steam Early Access launched on 3 September 2026. The shop is in the main menu, not in-match.
You always play BLUE versus RED. Only a golden dungball scores. Cosmetics do not affect Q, headbutt numbers, size, or anything in the competitive rules. If someone in a ranked lobby has a rainbow wing trail, they earned it the same way you earn XP — by playing.
Beetle Bucks: earn by playing
Beetle Bucks (BB) is the free currency. You earn it by playing matches — unranked, ranked, custom, quick play. The rate is not published by Bugfight, but it scales with match time and outcome. Level-ups also grant Bucks alongside experience.
Beetle Bucks are spent in the main menu shop on Beetle Eggs. They do not expire. They are not purchasable with real money directly — you earn them through play, then spend them in the shop UI.
Quests and level-up rewards from the 3 September launch also grant Bucks and XP. The launch post printed the ILOVEBEETLEBALL shop code for 10 eggs (48 hours only). Codes are on codes. This page does not invent new codes.
Beetle Eggs: the lootbox
Beetle Eggs are the paid-for (with Bucks) lootbox that contains cosmetics. The Next Fest update (February 2026) introduced:
- Common
- Uncommon
- Rare
- Legendary
- Mythical
Each egg tier has different drop rates. Mythical items are the rarest. The iridescent skins on every beetle (two per class) are Mythical.
Cracking an egg opens the inventory slot for that cosmetic. Inventory is persistent. Your hats, skins, and trails survive across sessions.
Eggs are purchased from the shop in the main menu. The launch shop code granted 10 eggs — that was a one-time distribution, not a repeat of the egg-purchase system.
What cosmetics exist
The cosmetic categories confirmed by Bugfight across demo and launch patches:
Skins
Skins change the visual appearance of the beetle itself. The Next Fest update added multiple skins per class, including:
- Doodle variants — beetles drawn on paper (Doodle-dung, Doodle-bug, Doodle-click, etc.)
- Minimalist variants — simplified flat-colour versions (Minimalist Dung, Minimalist Ladybug, etc.)
- Premium variants — Golden, Silver, Bronze metallic variants for some classes
- Iridescent variants — rainbow shimmer effect, Mythical rarity (Iridescent Dung, Iridescent Bee, etc.)
Each beetle has at least a default skin plus additional unlocked variants. Iridescent skins are Mythical.
Hats
Hats are worn by the beetle. The March 2026 update added approximately 80 new hats and explicitly stated “do not worry, they are not mustaches” — separating hat drops from the earlier mustache collection.
Mustaches existed as a separate hat category (24 total at the time of that update). The March drop was new hat shapes, not new mustaches. The Rainbow Mustache unlocks once you own all 24 standard mustaches.
Hat slots were added in the 3 September launch, meaning you can equip multiple hats or select specific slots.
Wing Trails
Wing trails leave a visual trail behind the beetle while moving. Added in the Next Fest update alongside skins and eggs. The March 2026 update added additional wing trail variants.
Goal Effects
Goal effects change the visual display when a team scores. Added in the Next Fest update.
Emotes and Stickers
Emotes are performed in-match using the emote wheel. Stickers are placed in-match using the sticker wheel. Both wheels were introduced in the Next Fest update. The March 2026 update added one new emote.
Emotes allow you to express emotions without typing. Stickers can be placed on surfaces in the 3D arena.
Cosmetics versus competitive: what matters
Cosmetics are purely visual. They do not:
- Change hitbox, size, or headbutt power
- Affect Q ability cooldowns or meter costs
- Grant bonus XP, Bucks, or egg drops
- Give any advantage in ranked or unranked
The competitive loop is: finish matches, earn XP and Bucks, buy eggs, crack cosmetics. The competitive loop is: finish matches, merge to gold, score red. These are separate.
Profile pictures and avatars were added in the 3 September launch alongside hat slots and unlockable classes.
How to view and equip cosmetics
- Open the main menu shop.
- Navigate to inventory or customise.
- Select a category: skins, hats, wing trails, goal effects, emotes, stickers.
- Click to equip. Changes apply to your next match.
Avatar and profile picture slots are in the profile section of the main menu.
The Beetle Billionaire’s Deluxe Golden Scarab Supporter Pack
This is a separate paid item on Steam, not part of the egg loop. It is an optional DLC purchase. It is not required for any cosmetic. Do not confuse it with the free Bucks-and-egg system.
Cosmetic economy and fair play
Bugfight has stated the cosmetic system is cosmetic-only. There is no pay-to-win. All competitive advantage comes from movement tech, game sense, and class kits documented on the Players Hub.
If you want more cosmetics: play matches, earn Bucks, buy eggs, crack. There is no shortcut that buys skill.
Where cosmetics sit in the wiki
Cosmetics are documented here. Class kits are on Players. Ranked is on Ranked Matchmaking. Codes are on codes. The Updates Hub tracks cosmetic drops as they ship.
