Early Access Launch

Steam Early Access for Beetleball launched on 3 September 2026. Bugfight Studio’s news post that morning is the source this page follows: the paid build is live, the public demo is gone, and the only printed shop code is ILOVEBEETLEBALL. This is a launch recap for players jumping in during the first days, not a promise of what 1.0 will look like later.

App ID 2776270. Windows, macOS, and Linux. Introductory Steam offer $7.99. Ranked, unranked, custom, quick play, and alternate modes up to 6v6. The parent timeline is the updates hub. New accounts should still read getting started after this page, not instead of it.

Demo closed, then the paid build opened

On 30 August 2026 Bugfight posted “Demo Closing Soon!”: the demo would shut on 31 August 2026 at 9pm PDT because the full game was going live on 3 September. That shutdown happened. Do not look for the demo app as a free substitute. Early Access is the current Steam product.

The demo had already done a lot of public testing — Next Fest eggs, Snowman, 1v1 ranked LTM, 5v5 PvP Fest cosmetics, ~80 hats, Lab maps, 75% ready, and host force start. Launch is that foundation plus a named set of new toys. If your demo cosmetics or level transferred, confirm them in the Early Access client; this recap does not guarantee a migrate tool.

What the 3 September news listed as new

Bugfight’s “BEETLEBALL IS OUT NOW!” post called out:

  • Proximity voice chat — talk to beetles near you, not a global radio by default. Volume and mute habits belong on settings.
  • Quick play + alternate gamemodes on top of ranked, unranked, and custom.
  • Unlockable beetle classes — the roster is not a fully open picker on a fresh profile.
  • Quests and level up rewards — structured XP on top of raw play time.
  • Atlas Beetle and Bee Beetle as launch classes.
  • Beetle class reworks and passive abilities — on-ball / off-ball is no longer the whole kit.
  • Museum map — a new 3D layout beside beach, Egypt, Snowman, and Lab experiments.
  • Unlockable profile pictures and hat slots.
  • A ton of new cosmetics, still earnable through eggs and Bucks.
  • In-game shop (still free!) in Bugfight’s wording: you buy eggs with play currency, not power.

Atlas and Bee join a roster that already included Ladybug, Click, Dung, Tiger, Goliath, Earthboring, Rhino, Weevil, Bombardier, Firefly, Cyborg, Fungus, Longhorn, and more toward the 14+ count on the store page. Role splits: attackers, defenders, supports. Do not assume Atlas or Bee is a beginner star until you have seen the class-select difficulty tag yourself; Ladybug, Click, Firefly, and Goliath remain the named friendly starters from prior UI work.

Museum sits with the other vertical picnic maps. Learn maps before you treat a lost golden ball as a class issue. Passives change how a kit feels when both abilities are on cooldown — the tier list and team comps will lag behind any silent rework, so re-read them after you play a few Museum games, not before.

Shop, eggs, and the 48-hour code

Launch did not replace the Next Fest loop. Play still grants XP and Beetle Bucks. Bucks still buy Beetle Eggs (Common → Mythical). Eggs still roll hats, wing trails, emotes, stickers, skins (including iridescent mythical paints), and goal effects. The shop UI can show lootbox drop chances. Quests and level rewards are extra pipes into that same inventory. Full explanation: shop hub.

As a launch thank-you, Bugfight printed this in Steam news: type ILOVEBEETLEBALL in the in-game shop for 10 beetle eggs, available only 48 hours after release. Release was 3 September 2026, so the window runs through 5 September 2026. If you are in that window, open the shop and type it. If the field fails, it expired — there is no second confirmed code. Do not pad this recap with fake strings. Steps: codes.

Optional DLC exists as The Beetle Billionaire’s Deluxe Golden Scarab Supporter Pack. It is a Steam item, not a shop code, and this page will not invent a price.

How to spend the first evening

Finish the in-game tutorial (it pays experience). Turn on always sprint if you hate holding Shift, and colourblind mode if red/blue nets smear — both are on settings with disable-team-outlines and distance blur. Learn that only gold scores: how to score. Drill movement in a custom lobby before you let ranked teach you with a loss streak. Ranked is still a discipline game: merge, escort, and net, not a deathmatch with a ball nearby.

Queue with proximity voice if you can be kind on a short-range mic. Custom lobbies still have force start and 75% ready from demo QoL, which matters when a sixth player is AFK. The controls page is the bind sheet; this recap will not duplicate it.

Bugfight asked for Steam reviews and Discord bug reports in the same launch post. Use official links for those channels. This wiki will add later patch children under updates when there is something player-facing to summarise. Until then, this is the launch snapshot: demo closed 31 August, Early Access 3 September, Atlas, Bee, Museum, passives, quests, shop eggs, and one short-lived code.

FAQ

ILOVEBEETLEBALL in the in-game shop for 10 beetle eggs, 48 hours after 3 September 2026 (through 5 September). If it fails, it expired. Full steps: codes.

Did proximity voice ship in Early Access?

Yes. The 3 September notes list proximity voice chat. Mix it with the audio sliders on settings so you can still hear the ball.
