Beetleball Maps

Picnic tables, tunnels, pyramids, and other reasons this is not a flat pitch.

Competitive Maps

Beetleball maps are 3D rooms with two nets, not painted rectangles. You glide off dandelions, roll gold up cakes, and headbutt people off sandcastles because the geometry is the fifth player. Steam lists 8+ unique maps. The competitive pool you will see in ranked and unranked rotates around Picnic, Crater, Beach, Egypt, Snowman, and Gamba. Museum is the launch map people still boot in custom. Beetlekitty’s Play Pen exists and is often not in the pool. Lab maps live in custom for experiments.

Always blue versus red, on every layout. Rabbit rules from How to Score still apply; only the furniture changes. Movement strings from Movement Tech are how you actually use a table or a pyramid.

Picnic — small, cluttered, first gym

Picnic is the small competitive map and the right place to learn. Tables, food, grapes, cakes, and dandelions break sightlines and give you walls to walk. Because the pitch is short, gold happens fast and panic shots happen faster.

Rollout to center. Your first job off spawn is not “look at the net.” It is arriving at mid before the other three beetles do, because the first 2-dump from the rabbit will not wait. Use a headbutt-up into glide, a Click launch, or a Dung flutter dash along the high line — table tops, grape clusters, cake icing — so you keep height instead of falling into the cloth. Jumping from prop to prop is faster than sprinting the grass. A clean Picnic rollout is the same idea as a Beetlekitty’s Play Pen rollout; BK’s is just usually missing from the playlist, so Picnic is where you rehearse it.

Dung likes Picnic more than the size suggests: slopes feed trims, and Picnic’s fungus (when it is up) is the best “Dungus” launch in the pool. Ladybug can steal over the cake instead of through the crowd. Goliath should respect how short the shot is and not wander to their own grapes.

Beach — tunnels and a fat rabbit

Beach is the wide sand map with tunnels through the clutter and sandcastles you can knock people off. It plays large and relatively flat compared with Picnic. Goals are not as blocked as Egypt’s lifted mouth, which is why Dung mains call it a good Dung map: reversal space, less vertical tax.

Rabbit math is the Beach homework. Winner-side drops are the richer pile (think a 2 / 1 / 2 pattern on that half versus a stingier loser half). After a goal, go contest winner-side dung instead of idling in the tunnel you like. Tunnels are rotation tools: you disappear from a Goliath’s camera, you do not live in there with gold unless you want to get stuffed at the exit.

Look-down glides over open sand pick up a lot of speed. Headbutt grabs off castle lips are free height. If you only play Picnic, Beach will feel empty until you realize the emptiness is the weapon.

Egypt — pyramid bounce

Egypt is pyramids and an elevated goal. Ground-speed beetles (Dung without a trim) suffer because the mouth is not on the sand. The signature line is a pyramid bounce: throw or headbutt dung into a face, ride the redirect, headbutt grab the rebound. That is movement tech plus a wall, not a special Egypt button.

Keepers sit in a lifted box and see a lot of sky. Slow gold from the desert floor is easy food. Fast gold that kissed a pyramid is not. Ladybug meter fly and Click launch exist partly so you can take that height without a Dungus. If your team keeps merging at the foot of the pyramid and never using the face, you are playing Picnic on the wrong map.

Crater, Snowman, Gamba

Crater is the bowl. Rim walls are walkable, the pit collects loose 1s, and glides from the lip into mid are the rollout. Fights go vertical because the geometry funnels you. A gold at the bottom is a scramble; a gold on the rim is a throw. Ground pound Goliaths get extra value when enemies are stacked in the dish.

Snowman joined as a competitive map in the big cosmetic update. It plays like a smaller, less flat Beach: winter props, enough slope to break a pure Dung highway, not as tiny as Picnic. Treat it as a mid-size layout. Do not assume Beach tunnel habits will port; the sightlines are busier and the floor is less honest.

Gamba is the small-and-flat cousin. Terrain still helps a trim, but it is not a fungus playground. Because it is small, gold is cheap and overmerge is a real defensive idea when two golds exist in a closet. Headbutt grabs from rest matter more than 40-meter glides you do not have the space to charge.

Museum, Beetlekitty’s Play Pen, lab maps

Museum is the launch map. People learned grab windows here. It still belongs in custom when you want a layout the ranked pool is tired of, or when you are showing a friend the game with the original furniture. Do not be shocked if a ranked night never gives it to you.

Beetlekitty’s Play Pen is real, cute, and often not in the competitive pool. If a custom host picks it, the Picnic-style rollout (high line to center) still applies. Do not build your ranked muscle memory around BK’s being there tomorrow.

Lab maps are custom-only experiments. Use them to test movement, not to decide a 3v3 identity. If a lab layout has a hole, a moving prop, or a joke net, believe the loading name: it is a lab.

How to practice maps

Custom lobbies let you pick the layout. Play Picnic until rollouts are boring, Beach until you rotate to winner-side dung without thinking, Egypt until a pyramid bounce is a habit, then let ranked surprise you with Crater. Ranked Matchmaking is 3v3 on this pool, not a different sport. If a patch adds a map or pulls BK’s in, Updates will say so; this page will not pretend a wishlist layout is live.

The through-line on every map: 3D props are speed. If you only sprint the floor, you are playing a worse game than the beetle walking the ceiling.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Beetleball players.

Which Beetleball maps are in the competitive pool?

Expect Picnic, Crater, Beach, Egypt, Snowman, and Gamba in ranked-style play. Museum is the launch map. Beetlekitty's Play Pen is often out of the pool.

What is a Picnic rollout?

Leaving spawn on the high prop line — tables, grapes, cakes — so you hit center before the first dung fight. It is the first movement test on the smallest map.

Why does Beach play differently from Picnic?

Beach is larger, flatter, and tunneled. Winner-side rabbit dung is richer, so rotate there after a goal instead of living in a tunnel.

How do I use Egypt's pyramids?

Bounce dung off a pyramid face, then headbutt grab the rebound to steal height toward the elevated goal. Floor gold is easy for the keeper.

Can I play lab maps in ranked?

Lab maps are for custom lobbies. Ranked uses the competitive pool. Host a custom if you want Museum, BK's, or a lab layout.
